Week 5 Blog

Universal Design for Learning          1) Something I often think about in my current classroom, is that students are not the same style learners that they used to be. Even thinking about the last 3 years and how much things have changed. The article I read, listed that in the first sentence,  The twenty-first century classroom contains students who learn differently. Learning differences or learner variability reflects the number of shifts in population and society (2022). The article discusses that while learning has changed, we must change our way of teaching. We need new ways to engage students into learning. Learning needs to be actively engaging students in a way that allows them to be involved in their learning. Representing the information in a way that captures the attention of students is important. We can do this with group presentations on the smartboard with the use of tools that create interactions. The article also discusses the import...

Week 4 Blog Assignment: Magic School

AI is used more often in education, although it is still mostly new to me. I used Magic School AI to create a lesson plan for first graders to begin researching topics. I am always looking for ways to make education engaging and effective. Students learn more when they see the importance of what they are learning. PART ONE:                 I found that the quality of the lesson was high and met the standards that I provided. In the state of Oklahoma, we use the OAS standards. The OAS standards that I provided were 1.6.W.1 Students will generate questions about topics of interest for research and 1.6.W.2 Students will organize information found during group or individual research, using graphic organizers or other aids with prompting. I also provided the ISTE standard for students, 1.1.c. Students use technology to seek feedback that informs and improves their practice and to demonstrate their...

Motivate to Learn          Students learn when they are motivated to do so. Creating a reason for students to be motivated to learn by creating an inspirational learning environment allows students to grow. Considering the curriculum, while the information might be present if the curriculum isn't providing ways to create motivation, then it is unlikely to meet the goals The infographic will discuss the key points and how they are approached.   Resources Gura, M. Week 2 Blog Assignment

Part 1:             Authentic Intellectual Work helps students to think outside of the box, have a higher level of thinking, and better understanding of the world around them. Authentic Intellectual Work in nature prepares students to not only learn the importance of knowledge, but also prepares students on how to use that knowledge in their world. Authentic Intellectual Work differs from traditional approaches to instruction and assessment by allowing students to focus on how to use the materials and knowledge rather than to prove they have the knowledge but lack the reasoning to see the importance of how to use it. Often students do not see the value of instruction other than to take an assessment for a passing grade.             One component of AIW is Standard 2: Deeper Knowledge. It is one thing to know the information, but another to truly understand it in all a...
